Griffin Internet

Griffin Information Systems was formed in early 1993 as a software house and general IT services company.

The company quickly established an enviable reputation, and Griffin-built PCs were the subject of many favourable reviews in the computer magazines of the time.

In early 1995, Griffin Internet started the process of designing and building an ISP for the East Midlands. On 1st October 1995, Griffin launched the UK's first un-metered Dial-up service to subscribers of Nynex Cable TV in Derby. At the time, the service was built on 3 Linux servers, 6 incoming lines and a 64Kbit/s leased line to the Internet, although rapid growth saw the infrastructure grow dramatically in the months following the launch.

Since then Griffin Internet have continued to innovate and has been behind many Internet firsts, including being the first European company to broadcast live music on the Internet and being the company behind the first Premier League football commentary on the Internet.

Since those early days, Griffin has experienced significant growth, both in customers and infrastructure. In terms of customers, Griffin provides Internet access to over 30,000 subscribers and supplies wholesale services to over 200 ISPs and telcos. Through our network of partners we supply managed broadband to some of the world's largest (and smallest) companies.

Griffin continues to grow profitably, with very low churn thanks to a sustainable business plan, good people, continuous innovation and a quality network.

Griffin currently provides hosting services to both corporate and small organisations alike, with bespoke service offerings and resilient solutions across a host of platforms, including Linux Fedora, Suse Linux and Windows 2003. We have dedicated server suites in 3 carrier class, state of the art data centres here in the UK: Leicester Derby and London. Griffin Internet prides itself in providing resilient hosting solutions from single servers to multi server-clustered configurations and Storage Area Networks.
