Our pragmatic, no-nonsense approach to solving the problem of accurately locating a mobile handset has already lead to the awarding of our first contact, with more to follow.

The basis of our approach revolves around utilising available measurements on existing, unmodified mobile handsets, coupled with our understanding of the radio environment to provide highly accurate location estimates. These location estimates can be used for traditional location based services (LBS) such as asset tracking, and child tracking. One application of our technology is to provide a zone detection system, allowing a standard 2G or 3G handset to make local decisions about a user's movement in our out of a pre-defined zone.

SeekerZone™ is a result of this fresh approach to the problem of zone detection. Instead of trying to use traditional location technologies to locate a handset, and then determine if it is within a pre-defined zone, we transfer the decision making to the handset. Our patent pending algorithms execute on a 2G or 3G handset (using SIM toolkit or embedded in the phone) to provide zone detection accuracies between 20m and 500m depending on the location and local radio environment.

Instead of having to solve the problem of “where is the handset?”, and then calculate if it is within a particular zone, we determine directly if the handset is in the zone. This means we can provide a solution that in some cases is up to 50 times more accurate than cell-ID (leading to a massive reduction in revenue leakage), and has much lower air-interface impacts than other location technologies. Our approach leads to much lower installation, infrastructure and maintenance costs than other competing technologies.
