ABBYY Enhances UK Presence With New Hires

Data Capture Industry Experts To Expand Technical Consulting and Support for Partners and Customers...

London, UK (18th October 2006) ABBYY Europe, a leading provider of document recognition, data capture and linguistic technologies is strengthening its technical consulting infrastructure with the appointment of two new consultants based in the United Kingdom. Dave Evans and Andrew Thornber have joined ABBYY Europe to provide local support and assistance to developers and partners working with ABBYY data capture and recognition products such as ABBYY FormReader, FlexiCapture and Recognition Server.

Dave Evans, technical consultant brings more than 17 years of experience in the Document Capture and Recognition market. Prior to joining ABBYY, Evans worked for 4 years with Captiva Software, a leading provider of automatic data capture software and enterprise input management (EIM) solutions, now part of the EMC Corporation. Evans last served as partner manager at Captiva, overseeing the InputAccel Express product line throughout Europe and previously held positions as product manager and pre-sales consultant for the company. Evans' background includes a role as sales engineer for FormScape, the leading provider of Document Process Automation solutions. Evans was one of the founding members of DICOM UK, now part of Dicomgroup PLC.

Andrew Thornber has over 10 years experience in customer service and consulting for several companies. Working for both small and large companies providing both specialised remote and onsite support, he has gained experience in various market sectors from the pre-press industry to the DCM and EDI market. Andrew's previous employers include Omprompt, Computacenter and CREO - now part of Kodak's Graphic Communications Group.

Evans and Thornber will work closely with the ABBYY Europe sales and business development team, ABBYY corporate development teams, and VARs to deliver technical consulting, pre- and post- sales support for partners and customers throughout the United Kingdom. In these roles they will also work closely with Headway, ABBYY's value added distributor in the UK.
