Delhi , 24rd January, 2007 – Ahmedabad based Virtual Netcomm Pvt Ltd , value added distributor of Blue Coat® Systems (Nasdaq: BCSI), the leader in secure content and application delivery, today announced that Irevna Research Services Ltd, a leading offshore market research firm and subsidiary of McGraw Hill based in India, has selected Blue Coat SG appliances to protect users and control Internet applications. The appliances protect the company’s resources from direct contact with the Internet and help prevent the introduction of viruses, spyware and other malware. Blue Coat SG appliances also provide granular control over the use of streaming media, peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing, instant messaging (IM) and general Web surfing. The appliances provide protection and control even of SSL encrypted traffic.
Virtual Netcomm Pvt Ltd is a Niche IT Network Security Solutions provider based in Ahmedabad, India with overseas operations in Singapore. Virtual Netcomm Pvt Ltd has sales and support operations in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, New Delhi & Bangalore.
“Information is our most critical asset, and protecting it is one of our highest priorities,” said Vijayakumar, information security officer, Irevna Research Services Ltd. “Blue Coat provides a platform of control that enables Web security and granular control of Internet applications. Through these controls, we operate a safe and productive network for our customers around the world.”
Blue Coat SG appliances help protect Irevna Research Services by inspecting its Internet traffic and applying controls based on the company’s policies. Using Blue Coat’s unique SSL proxy, Irevna Research can even gain visibility into SSL encrypted traffic between internal users and external sites. Without this ability, the company would be “blind” to encrypted traffic and could not apply the same protection and control it uses on non-encrypted traffic.
To ensure compliance with various regulations, Irevna Research Services uses the SG appliances to prevent back channels of employee communication, including instant messaging (IM) and Web mail. It also manages the use of bandwidth-consuming applications, such as peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing and streaming video. Spyware can be blocked at the Internet gateway and prevented from loading on individual computers.
“Blue Coat SG appliances keep the Irevna Research Services network and employees operating safely and efficiently,” said Steve Mullaney, vice president of worldwide marketing for Blue Coat Systems. “We are the access point of control for all Irevna Internet traffic, including that which is SSL encrypted.”
