Zycko And Redstor Partner For Storewiz - Data Compression Driving Storage Opportunities

2nd March 2007 - Zycko, the value-added distributor of best-in-class convergent storage and IP solutions, and Storewiz, the provider of unique real-time storage compression solutions that dramatically boost available storage space, have signed VAR Redstor to capitalise on the plentiful sales opportunities available in the storage compression market.

Redstor’s new partnership with Zycko, the sole distributor for Storewiz in the UK and Ireland, marks the first in a wave of reseller appointments for the coming months designed to help Zycko cope with an ever-increasing volume of visible Storewiz sales opportunities.

David Galton-Fenzi, group sales director at Zycko, said Redstor was the ideal partner.

“We are extremely excited to have brought Redstor onboard because it will bring a strong base of potential customers to the Storewiz product,” he said. “Many businesses out there are not making full use of their storage capacity and it is costing them lots of money because they have to buy new storage hardware everytime their capacity runs out. With Storewiz customers can retain their current infrastructure, increase their storage capacity and slash their storage costs.”

Tony Ruane, business development director at Redstor, said that many businesses with an existing NAS environment are experiencing poor utilisation levels from their storage assets and that Storewiz will enable them to gain much greater storage asset utilisation without the usual costs.

“Anyone with a NAS device can potentially benefit from Storewiz,” he said. “We are talking to as many NAS users as we can. At the risk of sounding trite, this is a no-brainer for most serious NAS users”

Using Storewiz’s compression ratio facility, available storage space can be more than doubled depending on the data’s nature and, according to Storewiz figures, its products are able to achieve impressive compression ratios across a wide range of complex vertical markets. For example, up to 70 per cent compression in oil and gas, 80 per cent in finance and 80 per cent in the telecoms sector.

“We feel quietly optimistic about this technology- the amount of conversations we have with NAS users over both the cost of provisioning NAS as well as the poor utilisation levels means that is something that any serious NAS user has to look at. It is one of those technologies that we have a duty to our client base to show them,” added Ruane.

A link aggregation facility also enables for the grouping of multiple Ethernet network interfaces into one logical high bandwidth, while the appliance integrates seamlessly into highly-available networked storage infrastructures and maintains its high-availability features.
