Competitively-priced AT-AR770S combines sophisticated security functions with superlative performance...
2 April 2007 – Allied Telesis, a global provider of secure Ethernet/IP access solutions and an industry leader in the deployment of IP Triple Play networks over copper and fiber access infrastructures, today announced its new secure VPN router, the AT-AR770S. The device provides exceptional performance for secure VPN connections between office sites over multiple WANs, whilst still providing firewall protection across several LAN ports locally. The AT-AR770S also features advanced Quality of Service (QoS) functionality, so that data traffic can be prioritised according to customer requirements. The modular design of the AT-AR770S makes it a versatile, cost-effective solution for midsized to larger companies looking for high-speed leased line connectivity, advanced security features, and multiservice data and voice integration that can adapt to their needs as they grow.
Exceptional performance
With its Gigabit connectivity and throughout, the AT-AR770S can perform firewalling and VPN capabilities at the fast data rates that today’s medium-sized enterprises demand. Unlike most comparable secure VPN routers on the market, the AT-AR770S can operate a Stateful Inspection Firewall with NAT, QoS, and IPSec VPN termination capability simultaneously and still maintain a superior level of performance, even with the mixed packet sizes that are common in enterprise networks.
Comprehensive security capabilities
The Allied Telesis AT-AR770S is supplied with a rich set of security features, including IP Security VPN, Stateful Inspection Firewall protection and intrusion detection. Alongside hardware-based encryption, the AT-AR770S also provides traffic filtering with event logging to provide control over traffic passing through the router. The Stateful Inspection Firewall supplies an additional level of security and complements the traffic filtering capability. Intrusion detection prevents internal and external attacks on the network, and HTTP and SMTP proxies enable enhanced control over web and email communications.
Advanced QoS features for triple play applications
The QoS provided with the AT-AR770S dynamically detects high-priority voice, video and application traffic so that optimal service levels for applications, video conferencing, and VoIP calls can be maintained, even in congested networks. QoS can be applied within individual IPSec tunnels over GRE and in IPv6 to IPv4 tunnels. The AT-AR770S is the first Allied Telesis router to offer Gigabit connectivity to both LAN switch and WAN Ethernet ports. It features 2 WAN combination ports (SFP or 10/100/1000TX) and 4 LAN 10/100/1000TX ports.
Comprehensive management and configuration
Allied Telesis supplies a suite of management capabilities with the AT-AR770S, with an extensive set of commands available via the Command Line Interface (CLI). The AT-AR770S is also compatible with SNMP-based management packages, and its SNMP support includes SNMPv3 to provide secure management.
Flexibility for managed router services
Melvyn Wray, senior vice president of marketing at Allied Telesis: “The new AT-AR770S is flexible and scalable enough to fit in – and grow with – a wide variety of network types. It also enables Network Service Providers to offer managed router services and tailor them to customers’ requirements, which helps them adhere to their service level agreements.”
