Shop At The Store Of The Future At Retail Solutions 2007

Published 18th May 2007

A first at Retail Solutions 2007 will be the Store of the Future, in association with Fujitsu, which is dedicated to improving the customer experience.

This purpose-built show piece area will demonstrate how shopping will look over the next few years through a series of live future retail areas, where visitors will be able to shop for food, clothes and consumer electronics products. The sales process will be supported with various new and future technologies to improve customer service.

Visitors to the Store of the Future will be able to shop in ways that, within a few years, will become common place.

Fujitsu has based its offering on extensive research among consumers all over Europe, and will be announcing the results of this research at the show.

The Future Food area focuses on ‘Empowering the Consumer’. In this area, delegates will learn how they can utilise technologies such as SCO, kiosks, ESELs, DMNs, RFID tags and contactless payment solutions to provide consumers with the ability to control, enhance and personalise their shopping experience.

The Future Department Store area focuses on ‘The new paradigm in Personal Assisted Shopping’. Here, visitors will see how technologies, including palm vein technology, mobile devices, smart changing room technologies and RFID tags enable retailers to improve their customer services to increase basket size and improve loyalty.

Dominic Holt-Gregson, marketing manager for Fujitsu, said, “Visitors to the stand are in for a surprise. While some vendors talk about innovation for its own sake, we are proving that we can deliver the future to retailers today.”

Simon Press, event manager for Retail Solutions, “In our 27th year, we are continuing to be the only show that gives retailers an insight into how retailing will look over the next ten years.”
