Paxar Helps Lord & Taylor Speed Merchandise To Its Stores With The Monarch® Pathfinder® Ultra® Platinum

Published 31st May 2007

Paxar, a global leader providing bar code, RFID and identification technologies for the retail supply chain and the supplier of Monarch® products and services, is helping Lord & Taylor, the oldest department store chain in the United States, speed its merchandise to the selling floor.

Lord & Taylor relies heavily on UCC-128 bar codes affixed to incoming packages in order to route them quickly through its distribution center and direct them to the proper store. When these critical bar codes are damaged or scratched, and cannot be read by the automated sortation system, a replacement bar code label must be printed and applied to the package in order to keep it moving efficiently towards its retail destination.

Instead of slowing productivity by walking to a stationary printer and back, whenever Lord & Taylor employees need to print new bar code labels, they simply carry Paxar's unique state-of-the-art Monarch® Pathfinder® Ultra® Platinum printer right to the package and key in the UCC-128 number into its integrated keypad. The label is immediately reproduced and applied directly to the box, all within seconds and with one hand. The package is promptly on its way to the correct store.

According to Lord & Taylor's Technology Support Supervisor, Brian Noler, "The Ultra Platinum printers are working very well for us. They are very user-friendly, easy to operate; remarkably fast and they rarely break down. We are extremely happy with the solution we have."

The Ultra Platinum printer's scan, print and apply capabilities can "single handedly improve productivity" not only in distribution centers but also on retail floors, receiving docks, in manufacturing facilities and warehouses.
