London Borough Of Southwark Implements ‘OneSearch’ With Jadu And Google

Content management and enterprise search specialist, Jadu, has implemented its leading enterprise search product, ‘Jadu Rupa for Google Enterprise Search’, for the London Borough of Southwark Council to enable internal, organisational wide search.

Powered by the Google Search Appliance (GSA), Jadu Rupa will enable Southwark to index and search all its internal content, aiding the authority in meeting the increasing demands of information management and the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

The Jadu Rupa/Google search appliance rollout is to be done in phases, starting with the Council’s internet and intranet sites and documents on one service department’s network drive. This will be followed by other network drives, databases and other Southwark satellite websites.

“Staff can now search the Southwark internet and intranet at once using a single search from a dedicated domain - OneSearch,” comments Steve D’Arcy, Information Management Analyst at Southwark. “In our next phases we want to add other information collections, or repositories, such as file servers, other websites and document management systems so that our staff can search for information wherever it resides within the organisation.”

“Enterprise search is the key to helping the Council unlock the vast and varied content and knowledge held within the organisation,” says Alison Leahy, Group Manager for Knowledge and Data Services at Southwark. “We want to continue to improve services to our customers and enabling our employees to find and share information easily is a key step to achieving this.

“Jadu’s Rupa system and the Google Search Appliance have provided a rapid and scalable search solution that the Council can now evolve and integrate across the enterprise.”

Suraj Kika, CEO at Jadu adds, “We are delighted that Southwark has chosen Jadu as its search partner. Enterprise search is a key enabler to transformational Government and since Google has developed the most powerful search in the world, it’s a very natural partnership for Jadu as a Government information systems provider.”

Jadu launched its first Google Enterprise Search offering in 2006 when the company began delivering Google search products embedded with its flagship content management system, ‘Jadu CMS’ and recently with its ‘Jadu Rupa’ search product.
