30 October 2007 – telent, a leading provider of technology services, today announced that its contract with Alstom Transport for the ongoing maintenance of communications systems on the Northern Line has been extended by a further five years.

The extension comes after a successful ten-year partnership with Alstom, a global leader in rail infrastructure. The multimillion-pound contract will see telent continue to provide essential maintenance of communications systems on the Northern Line, including track-to-train CCTV and track-to-train data. The delivery of these maintenance services will ensure that London Underground can support its operations with efficient communications systems.

“The continued association with Alstom demonstrates our customers’ confidence in our understanding of the underground environment and our ability to provide a superior service and support on safety critical systems,” said Adrian Groves, General Manager of Metro at telent. “Our continual investment into management tools such as TRAMMS (our maintenance management system), coupled with investment in staff and training, has ensured that we continue to deliver an excellent service to our customers.”

The new contract will run from January 2008 to January 2013.

telent has provided integrated services and solutions to clients in the UK Rail industry for many years. Only last week, telent announced that it had been awarded a three-year contract with Stagecoach’s South West Trains to provide maintenance and support for the train operator’s stations and control rooms. The contract, worth over £1m per annum, was the first to be awarded to telent by a train operating company.
