Leisure Parcs, owners of Blackpool Tower, purchase DataManager from local IT firm...

3 December 2007: Leisure Parcs Ltd the owner of a variety of venues within the popular North West coastal resort of Blackpool, has recently purchased VoiteQ’s DataManager to enable them to interrogate their electronic point of sale (EPoS) data across their entire portfolio of venues. Leisure Parcs decided to purchase the solution following a demonstration on their own data, which highlighted the level of detail available for investigating their business transactions.

Blackpool Tower and Circus, Louis Tussaud’s Waxworks, the Tower Lounge Bar and the Winter Gardens complex which incorporates the Opera House Theatre, Empress Ballroom and the Olympia Exhibition Hall plus Blackpool Sea Life centre located on Blackpool’s famous Promenade all make up the Leisure Parcs portfolio.

Kate Shane, Head of Finance at Leisure Parcs comments “Even from the first demonstration of DataManager we appreciated what an effective tool this would be for our business. DataManager can access the information we already have from our incumbent EPoS system in a more effective manner. The ability to interrogate the data in the receipt archive, to monitor every line of every transaction to detect unusual patterns in activity, will provide us with visibility across our portfolio of venues that we have never had before. DataManager will allow us to drill down through the information and help to establish the root cause of potential issues and deal with them effectively. Assessing this information at transaction level, including time, till, cashier and product data, provides us with the ability to target and reduce shrinkage.”

The information provided by DataManager includes all the details held in the receipt archive – date, time, venue, cashier, till, value, voids, refunds, product, etc. The solution will allow Leisure Parcs to query this data and to ‘drill down’ to find the root cause of shrinkage, monitor stock, spot trends and assess sales, all without having to ‘cube’ the data or take the server offline.

Shane continued, “We will soon be rolling out Phase 1 of the DataManager implementation, integrating the solution into our existing EPoS data. We will then be integrating the TicketMaster admissions data as part of Phase 2, and finally include the Budgetary data at Phase 3.” The roll out of all three phases is expected to take 3 months, and be ready for the start of the Blackpool tourist season 2008.

Shane concluded “Leisure Parcs is committed to investing in Blackpool and recently announced a multi million pound investment in Blackpool Tower. We are therefore pleased to have found such a fantastic product for our portfolio from a local company.”
