Secure Computing Named Worldwide Leader Of The Web Security Appliances Market By Leading Market Research Firm

SAN JOSE, CA—January 14, 2008—Secure Computing Corporation (NASDAQ: SCUR), a leading enterprise gateway security company, today announced that it has been named the worldwide market leader for Web security appliances, according to leading market research firm IDC. New data within the December 2007 IDC report, “Worldwide Web Security Appliances 2006-2011 Forecast and 2006 Vendor Shares” shows that Secure Computing owns 11.8 percent of the worldwide market over all other vendors, including Websense, Trend Micro and Symantec.

According to the IDC report, the Web security market consists of three distinct segments: software, appliances, and hosted services. The Appliances segment of the Web security market space reached $174 million in 2006 and is projected to hit $648 million within the next five years. IDC forecasts an estimated compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 30 percent per year for the next five years. The Web security appliance sector is thereby projected to outpace the Web security software sector by a three to one ratio. With Secure Computing leading the way in the appliances space, the company is positioned to capitalize on this forecasted growth. Additionally, this leadership position validates efforts by the company to protect against and address growing Web 2.0 concerns.

In the fourth quarter of 2007, Secure Computing spearheaded the “Secure Web 2.0 Anti-Threat” (SWAT) initiative to help businesses implement a proactive security architecture that protects their environments as existing Web and messaging threats increase and new threats arise. As IDC states in the report, Web 2.0 protection is a major component of leading Web security practices and will continue to impact vendor solutions and customer demand.

According to IDC, Web security includes Web filtering products, Web anti-malware products, Web application firewall products and Web content filtering products. Web security products are deployed on software, appliance and hosted service platforms. Web security products protect against both inbound (malware) and outbound (data leakage) threats.
