Neil Rafferty, formerly Easynet CEO & Director of Global Operations at Cisco, has joined email management specialist Email Systems as Chief Executive, taking over the role from founder and incumbent CEO Neil Hammerton, who begins immediately in a new role as Chief Operating Officer.
A sales and marketing orientated CEO with over 20 years experience in the telecoms and technology sectors, Neil Rafferty brings a wealth of experience in managed services to the business, along with demonstrable track record of developing high growth businesses.
As CEO of ipsaris, a UK telecoms business, Rafferty obtained significant funding from Marconi in order to develop the company, which was subsequently merged with Easynet. In addition to Cisco, Rafferty’s previous roles have included: CEO at Priority Telecom, a subsidiary of UPC Europe’s largest cable company, CEO at Unisource Carrier Services, Vice President of Marketing at Global One and Managing Director of UK Sales & Support at AT&T.
In addition to the overall management of the business, Neil’s responsibilities as CEO of Email Systems will include spearheading the organisation’s global expansion strategy, creating and implementing an international strategic marketing plan and overseeing the organisation’s partner development programme.
Neil Hammerton, who has managed the business since it was founded in 2003, has grown the business organically, developing a significant customer base that includes the London Grid for Learning, Ajilon Group and Woolworths, a partner base which includes Fujitsu Siemens and international distributors in Hong Kong and Sweden.
Commenting on his appointment, Neil Rafferty said:
“Email Systems is already a highly successful business, having grown by more than 100% year on year since its inception and having developed a technology platform which leads all our major competitors in any independent direct comparison we are aware of. What is most interesting about this sector is that the market is still extremely open and consequently there is currently a unique opportunity for an incoming CEO to work with the existing management team to catapult Email Systems forward and deliver considerable value to the business’ shareholders. I am very excited about this opportunity”
Neil Hammerton added:
“As a heavyweight Sales and Marketing specialist CEO, Neil’s appointment represents a breakthrough step for Email Systems which is going to expand the business far beyond its current sphere. This change of roles is great news for the company as it will provide me with a considerable increase in the amount of time that I am able to spend in developing direct relationships with our partners, whilst taking a hands-on role in other creative business development activities.”
