DENVER — March 16, 2006 — Mobile asset management specialist, TrenStar Inc., today announced that it ranked as the fourth largest software developer in the Denver area by the Denver Business Journal. This marks the fourth consecutive year that TrenStar has been among the top five software developers in the area.
TrenStar’s senior vice president of technology and global development, Wayne Aronson, credits the consistent high ranking to its expanding leadership in RFID-enabled mobile asset management solutions. TrenStar’s success in the brewing industry has paved the way and created the platform for growth in newer markets including healthcare, passenger airline and air cargo.
TrenStar developed the equipment management system of its healthcare industry venture, Agility Healthcare Solutions, using its Microsoft-based technology framework. Agility’s solution is currently active in 7 hospitals and tracking more than 20,000 pieces of equipment, making it one of the largest RFID solutions in the U.S. healthcare industry. In the airline industry, TrenStar’s joint venture with Lufthansa Cargo AG, Jettainer, is the first company that offers a comprehensive technology solution that tracks and manages airline container and pallet fleets as they travel the globe. Jettainer’s technology solution, based on TrenStar’s software, increases visibility and helps airlines break through the barriers of excess inventory, traffic imbalances and low utilization that exist with tracking these assets, or Unit Load Devices (ULDs).
“One of the keys to our growth has been our ability to find the right balance between innovation and optimization,” said Aronson. “The operational and cost benefits of mobile asset management solutions are compelling for many industries. We expect that demand will continue to increase for TrenStar’s solutions as more and more companies seek to create a competitive advantage by improving operational efficiencies within the supply chain.”
According to the recent Aberdeen Group report titled Empowered Asset Management: Sharing and Tracking Logistics Assets with RFID to Improve ROI, RFID-based solutions are becoming increasingly important in improving internal operations and the supply chain. The research report also highlights that two-thirds of respondents plan to invest heavily in better asset management solutions over the next 24 months. Expectations for these investments are very high, as companies are anticipating 50% to 100% more value from new technology systems. TrenStar is the first company to solve the problems relating to RFID and metal using innovative solutions such as custom-made housings, special transponder coils and specific antennae tuning.
