Teradata, the global leader in enterprise data warehousing and a division of NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR), today announced the grand opening of a new Teradata Global Consulting Centre (GCC) in Dalian, China. The Dalian centre is located in the Dalian Software Park (DLSP) and is established to provide multi-lingual professional services support to Teradata customers throughout North Asia including Japan.

Dalian Mayor Xia Deren, NCR Japan President Hideki Hosoi, DLSP President Gao Wei and Teradata Global Professional Services Vice President David Klumb were among the guests attending the opening ceremony.

"We are very pleased to have a new global 500 company, with a history that spans more than 100 years, locating in Dalian. The fact that NCR selected Dalian proves that Dalian has great potential for the software industry," said Xia.

According to Hosoi, "The centre is a critical component of the planned growth of Teradata's global Professional Services consulting. The Global Consulting Centre team in China will be an extension of Teradata Professional Services, the world's leading data warehouse consultancy."

The centre's staff will specialise in data warehousing and business intelligence software, and will offer superior capability in end-to-end enterprise data warehouse implementation. The centre will serve customers throughout North Asia and complements other consulting centres recently opened in India and Pakistan.

"We are currently seeking Japanese-speaking Chinese professionals to add to our staff in Dalian," said Klumb. "They will join Teradata GCC employees with real-world experience in data warehousing projects in more than 15 countries. Teradata GCC professionals are fully equipped with all Teradata tools, technologies and patent-pending data warehouse methodology, and are supported by state-of-the-art facilities. Their global experience spans all key industries in order to deliver value to our customers."

Teradata is opening these centres to respond to emerging trends in the global marketplace. In today's competitive environment, data warehousing and business intelligence infrastructure are regarded as mission critical to organisational success; in fact, these are often considered as the basis for competition. A large number of organisations across the world use their Teradata data warehouses to help them make better, faster decisions to drive growth and profitability.
